Porto Saler

The village’s name Porto Saler originates from the Roman port „Portus Salarius“ in which the salt from the salines and salted fishes were loaded on ships. Even today, the village situated in the north-west of the island, between La Savina, where you arrive by ferry, and Las Salinas, is so small you can hardly find it on a map; correspondingly quiet and relaxing is this area. Although there is no beach in Porto Saler you are never far from it: Within few kilometres there are several marvellous sand beaches: the white sand beach of Platja La Savina with its many pines and shady cypresses (quiet and relaxative); the two milelong beaches Platja de ses Illetes (very exclusive) and Platja de Llevant (preferred by nudists) with their fine light-coloured sand and crystal clear water face each other and are partly only ca. 50 m away from each other; and the lively beach of Es Pujols (see Es Pujols).
