Sant Ferran
It was in Sant Ferran de ses Roques, San Fernando in Castilian, where tourism on Formentera began in the sixties of the last century. „Hippies“ and „nonconformists“ arrived by ferry from Ibiza on the so far unknown small island. At that time "Fonda Pepe", the almost single inn and "pub",was the meeting point and social centre, where the „Formentera Myth“ that is still alive was born and also the alternative way of living is still cultivated in this beautiful tavern.
Due to its central position it is easy to arrive everywhere. Es Puchols, the touristic centre is about 2 km away and ca. 3 km away from San Francesc, the main village of the island. Away from the main street in the traffic-calmed village centre of Sant Ferran, on the church square besides the Fonda there is a lively hustle in the summer months until late in the evening. Festivals and musical events of all kinds are worth an evening visit.
